The Big Event began in 1982 with the cleanup of a local cemetery and has now grown to include over 20,000 students annually who complete community service jobs around the Bryan/College Station community. The Association of Former Students is proud to support the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation by providing marketing support (graphic design, printing, etc.), as well as financial support that goes toward the purchase of supplies.

In 2018, The Association provided over $625,000 to the Division of Student Affairs that went directly to help student organizations like The Big Event.
